A South African wine blogger recently received a lawyers letter from the Top 100 SA Wine Competition, after being accused of name deformation.

A post published last year, on the blog of  TVdionysus, rubbered the wrong side of the Top 100 SA Wine Competition, after he questioned the organization’s Wine List Challenge credibility. In the post Dionysus stated his concern over the inclusion of the award’s CEO, Robin von Holdt ‘s guest house, Rodwell House, which was named as one of the winners of the  competition, but it was the opening  paragraph, comparing the competition to an African dictator, that sparked the R100 000 lawsuit. The paragraph has since been edited.

As far as we know this is the first case in South Africa of a wine competition suing a consumer, as Dionysus has no connection with the wine industry, other than being an outspoken wine enthusiast.
