Cape Town might be littered with babalaas bartenders this morning, but the Mother City sits pretty with almost all the major awards – from High to New to Best Bar – it’s all down south. A major shift from last year, when Jozi delivered most of the goods.
Last night, at another flawless award ceremony in Cape Town, the South African B.A.R. Awards revealed this year’s winners to an enthusiastic crowd of liquor aficionado. While the results were rather probable, it sure reflects the merits of this year’s winners.
Kurt The Godfather Schlechter and team bagged Best Cocktail Bar as well as Best Bar Team with their experimental cocktail bar, Cause & Effect. Over the last two years the Park Street stronghold quickly established itself as a local favourite with the Cape Town cocktail fraternity, however, your chance to visit SA’s newly crowned Best Cocktail Bar is limited. Cause & Effect will relocate to the V&A Waterfront in the next month where they will focus more on volume cocktails and the tourist trade. So better get your palate lit at the current location before it’s too late.
